So I'm a sucker for a small town romance with friends to lovers aspect. This one is one of the best! It was clear to see the closeness of the friendship between Kylie and Michael. They were inseparable and bonded over the loss of a parent. It was a sweet moment with them. Kylie has become a part of the family and has grown up in a remarkable woman. She truly has the best at heart. She wants to make everyone but herself happy. She will go out of her way to make someone day better. Her and Michael kinda hit a speed bump in their friendship. A girl came between them and hearts were hurt. This is when things get interesting.. Kylie finally discovers what the family has already seen over the years and is determined to keep Michael home. She knows deep down he loves the little town and is determined to show him how much. There's a thorn in her plan and it all comes down to the girl who broke his heart. She still has a hold on him. I felt like he never really got true closer. Yes he told her it was over and to move on but I felt like he still wasn't a 100% over her. This was something that haunted him throughout most of the book. Kylie I can relate to a lot. I wasn't the pretty girl, the girl who guys fought to hang out with and wanted to date. I was the ugly duckling in school and no I'm not calling Kylie ugly at all. She has changed a lot and Michael never noticed. He was in a Bailey cloud and didn't notice all the changes. She wanted to be the girl who got the guy and the fairy tale ending. She knew what she wanted and went after it. Sure she needed some help from Betty but she did it. This was a great book with great characters you will fall in love!! My only problem was the mystery of what was on the hard drive and how his dad died... I wanted more from this!!!
